芦苇丛里居住着许多鸟类,由于草叶太柔软,并不适合鸟类落脚栖息与猎食,尤其是猎食过程中,小鸟们更喜欢蹬在坚实一点的地方,以便瞬间起飞。这件作品的出发点是想为鸟类提供一些生活设施,用不锈钢圆棒支起一些鹅卵石,供鸟类落脚,而石头又能给游客带来不错的视觉效果,光面不锈钢圆棒映射周围景物,能很好的隐藏在草丛中,看起来石头是悬浮在空中的,如果边走边看,能感觉到石头在飞翔。


Many birds live among the wetland reeds, but the reeds are too soft for many of these birds to perch and forage. Especially in the hunting and foraging process, birds often prefer to perch on solid objects so they can immediately take flight when necessary. This artwork sets out from the idea of providing facilities for birds, using stainless steel rods to hold up stones that the birds can use as perches. The raised stones produce a unique visual effect for the viewer, while the reflective surfaces of the stainless-steel rods help to conceal them in the surrounding scenery, making it appear as if the stones are suspended in midair. As the viewer walks around the artwork, the stones appear to take flight.


1980年生于中国湖南,2007年毕业于中央美术学院雕塑系,获学士学位,现工作生活于北京。杨心广擅长以草木土石等自然物料为媒介创作作品。这些物料常被习惯性地赋予与“中国文人传统”紧密相联的内涵,而杨心广绝非简单地通过使用这些被精神化了的物料召唤“传统”或沉溺于“传统”之中,相反,他正是以一个当代人的身份将作为一种经典情感模式的“传统”陌生化,并籍此重置自我与世界的关系。


Yang Xinguang was born in Hunan Province in 1980. He received his BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts Sculpture Department in 2007. He currently lives and works in Beijing. He excels in artistic creation utilizing natural materials. These materials are customarily assigned close connections to the “Chinese literati tradition,” but Yang Xinguang does not simply use these spiritualized materials to evoke “tradition,” nor is he mired in it. To the contrary, he draws from his identity as a contemporary person to defamiliarize the stereotypical emotional mode of “tradition” and reset the relationship between self and the world.
