This artwork is inspired by scenes of Lake Dian from the 1970s and 80s. The ripples on the lake, the mists wafting over the Western Hills, the densely-packed boats of Zhuantang Wharf, the men and women fishing and swimming along the shore—these landscapes and living scenes have been fixed in memory to weave the nostalgia of this city. This artwork weaves dense stainless-steel webbing into an orange “sea,” weaving the nostalgia of generations of Kunming residents, and a poetic expression of the memories of old Lake Dian (our mother lake).
