这件作品是自然环境里以平衡为动力的⻦型雕塑,巨大的金⻩平衡⻦被搁置在水面露出的金字塔尖之上,象征自由文明的庞大⻦体盘旋在海平面,任由气流穿过,随⻛起落。它似乎有着自己的身份属性,坚定的平衡着自己的身体,在矛盾和自由里寻找归属之地,在迷离和缺失的线索里导航方向,静静地等待着,思考着,漂浮着......警示人类在当今时代高速发展和扩张中,如何更好的平衡人类文明与自然。


This artwork is a sculpture of a balancing bird. The giant golden bird is balanced on the apex of a pyramid rising from the water. The bird, a symbol of free civilization, revolves around the pyramid over the water’s surface, moving freely with the wind. The bird seems to have its own identity attributes, as it insists on maintaining the balance of its body, seeking a place of belonging between contradiction and freedom, seeking direction among threads of disorientation and loss, quietly waiting, thinking, floating, warning humanity to seek out balance between civilization and nature amidst the rapid expansion and tension of development.


童昆⻦(生于 1990年,中国⻓沙)作品形式多样,在装置、行为、影像、雕塑和绘画等媒介中灵活穿插。他习惯利用现代社会这个永动废物工厂製造的(过剩)产物与个人日常生活中触手可及的残余物件进行创作。关注繁杂的社会结构对个体身份与地位的限製与消耗,分解现成物,结合机械串联,导入重力平衡等因素,从而回应材料背后的个体意识,社会机製之间的多重变量和脆弱性。在拜物情绪、消费文化符号盛行,信息过载的当下,不断突破人类再造物的想象边界,呈现刁钻与戏谑并行的重构。


Tong Kunniao was born in 1990 in Changsha. His works take on a diverse array of forms and cross nimbly between such mediums as installation, performance, video, sculpture, and painting. He often draws from the surplus cast off by the perpetual refuse factory that is modern society, and the ubiquitous remnants of everyday life, to produce his creations. He focuses on how complex social structures limit and consume individual identity and status, dismantling readymade objects, combining mechanical components, and infusing elements such as weight and balance to respond to the individual awareness behind the materials, and the diverse, fragile dynamics between social mechanisms. In a time flooded with symbols of material fetishism and consumer culture, and overloaded with information, the artist constantly breaks the boundaries of imagination through wily, sarcastic reconstructions.
