When we first visited Haiyan Village, two things caught our attention: one is that there are many small courtyards and gardens hidden behind the old houses in the village. These small gardens have a special charm. They are not as exquisite as ancient classical gardens, but they have the flavor of daily life, and the plants grow well in them. There are often some unexpected matches in these courtyards: mottled paint buckets, used pots, and various pots and pans that we are reluctant to throw away in life. They make the best use of them and naturally become containers for soil and flowers. From the perspective of artists, this allows us to imagine the most interesting garden at present. So our idea is to pay tribute to these small gardens full of life wisdom. The other is that there are often motorcycles roaring along the main road in the village.Motorcycles, Dianchi Lake, and sunset are said to have become the fashionable code of Internet celebrities. These young people in leather clothes and helmets parachute into this traditional village, a bit like astronauts or aliens visiting. This made us think that we could name the work "Flying Garden".

We designed a sculpture using motorcycle helmets as flower pots.We chose the small courtyard of the village head's mother's house to build our garden. It is not far from the "Internet celebrity check-in point" to watch the sunset. We hope that visitors will be interested in entering this strange little garden, take selfies detour and discover that the village has many traditional alleys and old houses that need to be protected in addition to the beautiful sunset. It is also a way to pay tribute to the local village head and villagers for making this contemporary art festival successfully held in Haiyan Village. Planting flowers in your helmet, of course, can be interpreted as asking you to stop using your helmet, which means stopping burning fossil fuels. But nothing is that simple. Thanks to art, we can ask questions poetically. Therefore, we also dedicate our "flying garden" to the motorcyclists who rush all the way here to meet the sunset by the sea.
